Alia Bhatt, celebrated for her grace and style, has recently stirred discussions about her fashion selections. Despite her usual radiance, some have criticized her for not opting for more distinctive outfits, be it at award shows, red carpets, or even her wedding. The latest controversy arose when Alia appeared at the Met Gala 2024 in a breathtaking Sabyasachi saree. While the ensemble was undeniably stunning, many noted its resemblance to attire previously worn by other celebrities.
The saree was a true masterpiece, showcasing a captivating 23-foot-long embroidered train, truly fit for royalty. Crafted by a team of 163 skilled artisans, who dedicated a remarkable 1965 hours to its creation, this ensemble wasn’t just clothing—it was a masterpiece of artistry. Adorned with silk threads, glass beads, and gemstones, the floral design draped Alia in shades of pink and green, finished with beaded tassels and a ruffled pleat for added flair.
However, keen observers were fast to notice similarities between Alia’s saree and the one worn by Deepika Padukone at the Marathi Filmfare Awards in 2017. Both sarees were designed by Sabyasachi. Deepika’s saree was a see-through tulle saree adorned with floral decorations. Moreover, saree had a long train, a decorative embroidered edge, and scattered shimmering details.
Internet users have also noticed similarities between Alia’s saree and Katrina Kaif’s wedding attire. While the floral patterns on Alia’s saree resemble those on Katrina’s wedding saree. However, the overall appearance of Katrina and Alia was distinct. Katrina accessorized with a gold mirror choker necklace to complement her bridal ensemble, unlike Alia.
Some people suggested that Sabyasachi should try different styles in his designs. Others wished Alia had chosen a more unique outfit from designers like Gaurav Gupta or Rahul Mishra. One commenter cleverly remarked, “Sabya seems to be running out of ideas,” summarizing the feelings of those who found the repetitive designs uninspiring.
