Filmmaker Karan Johar announced on Monday the release date for Bollywood actor Ananya Panday’s digital series debut, Call Me Bae. In an Instagram post, Johar shared a new poster featuring Panday. The series is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting September 6.
Directed by Collin D’Cunha, Call Me Bae also features Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur. The series is created by Ishita Moitra and written by Ishita Moitra, Samina Motlekar, and Rohit Nair.
Karan Johar, along with Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra, is producing the show under the Dharmatic Entertainment banner.
The eight-part series Call Me Bae tells the story of Bae, a young woman who transforms from an heiress to a hustler following a scandal.
Ananya Panday’s character discovers that her true assets are her street smarts and charm, rather than diamonds. Despite her fall from grace, she navigates the newsrooms of Mumbai, forging new relationships, sisterhood, and a stronger sense of self.
Ananya Panday’s previous appearance was in the Netflix film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, where she starred alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav. The film received acclaim for its exploration of themes such as loneliness, social media obsession, and the feeling of being lost. In the film, Panday portrayed Ahana, a character seeking acceptance from her partner.
