The upcoming action film “Alpha,” directed by Shiv Rawail, features Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh as super agents. According to YRF, filming has officially started with locations in Mumbai and the United Kingdom, as the two actresses take on global missions. Veteran Bollywood star Anil Kapoor joins the cast as the mentor to Alia and Sharvari’s characters. Reports indicate that Alia Bhatt underwent a rigorous two-month training program with specialists to perform stunts in “Alpha.” YRF confirmed the movie’s title on Instagram with the caption, “The #ALPHA girls are here.”
Yash Raj Films’ spy universe, which began over a decade ago with Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012) and includes blockbuster hits like the recent ‘Pathaan’, is set to introduce its first female lead spy. In the eighth film of the series, Alia Bhatt will join the ranks of Pathaan (Shahrukh Khan), Tiger (Salman Khan), and Major Kabir (Hrithik Roshan) as the main protagonist in this action-packed spectacle.
This upcoming installment marks a significant shift for the series, which has previously featured male leads alongside strong female supporting characters.
Sharvari Wagh, who recently starred in the box office hit ‘Munjya’, will next appear in Nikkhil Advani’s ‘Vedaa’ with John Abraham and Tamannaah Bhatia, set for release on August 15.
Meanwhile, Alia Bhatt’s upcoming projects include Vasan Bala’s ‘Jigra’, releasing in October 2024, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated period drama ‘Love & War’, scheduled for Christmas 2025.
