Aamir Khan Firm: ‘Sarfarosh 2 Gets Our Full Focus

5 years of 'Sarfarosh': Throwback to the iconic film 'Sarfarosh' as Aamir Khan and Sonali Bendre & Naseerudeen shah gather for a special screening after 25 years!

Celebrating 25 years of Aamir Khan’s “Sarfarosh,” the actor attended a special premiere of the 1996 action-thriller in Mumbai. During the press event, he also spoke about the possibility of a sequel to the movie.

At the event, Aamir Khan and the rest of the cast and crew recall their memories from working on the film. Alongside reminiscing, Aamir almost confirmed the sequel to Sarfarosh.”

When asked by the press, Aamir discussed his intentions regarding Sarfarosh 2.“I can commit about one thing, that we will definitely give it a really serious shot now of coming up with the right script and the right kind of film for it. So John you will have to get to work here. Sarfarosh 2 banni chaiye (Sarfarosh 2 should be made)

Sarfarosh depicted an Indian police officer’s battle against cross-border terrorism. Aamir’s portrayal of Ajay Singh Rathod, facing off against Naseeruddin Shah’s Gulfam Hassan, was lauded. The film achieved both critical and commercial success, winning the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. It was remade in Kannada as ‘Sathyameva Jayathe’ and in Telugu as ‘Astram’ (2006), starring Vishnu Manchu and Anushka Shetty.”

Director John Matthew Matthan had long been rumoured to be working on a sequel to Sarfarosh. Initially, reports suggested that John Abraham would lead the film. However, in 2020, John confirmed that he was no longer involved in the project.

Aamir is currently working on his upcoming film, “Stargazers,” co-starring Genelia Deshmukh and Darsheel Safary.
