Gippy Grewal Shed Light on the Reasons Behind Inability to Collaborate with Diljit Dosanjh

Gippy Grewal addresses rumors of rift between him and Diljit Dosanjh

Diljit Dosanjh and Gippy Grewal, prominent figures in Punjabi entertainment, sparked anticipation for a reunion after their hit film “Jihne Mera Dil Luteya”. Despite fans’ eagerness, their absence from shared projects fueled rumors of rifts. In a recent Film Companion interview, Gippy Grewal sets the record straight on the rumored rift.

Gippy Grewal recounted the origins of the rumors surrounding his supposed conflict with the Amar Singh Chamkila actor, citing Gurdas Maan’s involvement during an award ceremony in Punjab as the starting point.

“I remember we were in Punjab for an award show, and Gurdas Maan was performing on stage. He stopped his performance just to say that we were looking good sitting together and that we shouldn’t fight and shouldn’t listen to what people were saying. We were shocked to hear him say this because there was nothing like that. After that, Diljit went on stage and cleared that there was nothing like that.”

The Jatt Nuu Chudail Takri actor elaborated that the prohibitive cost of casting both him and Diljit in a film is the primary obstacle preventing their collaboration. “What happened was that when we started our careers, we did a film, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya. That film became a massive hit. So, Diljit set his fees, and so did I. Now, to cast us both in the same film would be very expensive for producers. They couldn’t afford both of us. Because of this, we never got to work together, and people think that we aren’t working together,” he added.

Gippy also acknowledged that while he and Diljit aren’t particularly close, their relationship remains amicable, and I talk to Honey Singh and Badshah more compared to Diljit. We talk less to each other because we aren’t that close friends, but that doesn’t mean that we have a rift,” he said.

Despite the ongoing rumors, both Diljit Dosanjh and Gippy Grewal have continued to thrive in their respective careers, earning widespread acclaim and a devoted following. Fans eagerly await the possibility of their reunion on screen, hoping for another moment of the magic they once shared in “Jihne Mera Dil Luteya.”
