Vidya Balan says if male stars are uncomfortable with women taking the lead, it’s their loss

vidya Balan

During her appearance at The Indian Express’ Expresso inaugural session in New Delhi, Vidya Balan delved into her past relationships, marriage, and early experiences in the industry. She highlighted the challenges she faced, particularly the reluctance of male actors to share screen space with her despite the success of films like Ishqiya and The Dirty Picture.

Vidya expressed her belief that male stars remain uncomfortable with women taking the lead in films, emphasizing that their reluctance is their loss as female-led films often offer more innovative storytelling. She remained unfazed by this, stating that if male actors feel threatened, there’s little she can do about it. Addressing bias in the industry, Vidya asserted that regardless of nepotism, her success proves that the film industry isn’t solely reserved for star kids, debunking the notion that only those with familial connections thrive.
