Legendary Bollywood couple Dharmendra and Hema Malini celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary today, May 2. Their timeless love story began on a film set, leading to their marriage in 1980.
Proud parents to daughters Esha Deol and Aahana Deol, they remain iconic figures in the Hindi film industry. Hema Malini is Dharmendra’s second wife. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol are his sons from his previous marriage to Prakash Kaur.
On their anniversary, Hema Malini shared a fan-made montage on Instagram, showcasing cherished moments with her husband. Her caption reads “Our wedding anniversary today! 44 years of togetherness, 2 beautiful girls, lovely grandchildren surrounding us and drowning us with their love. Our fans and their limitless adulation! What more can I ask of life? Our eternal gratitude to the Almighty for this gift of happiness.”
On their special day, the couple received a heartfelt wish from their daughter, Esha Deol. She shared an unseen picture on her Instagram, featuring her parents in a loving pose. Hema wore a white printed top, while Dharmendra sported a green shirt.
Esha expressed her gratitude and affection for her parents in the caption, “Happy anniversary to my papa and mamma. I adore you, I love you & I just want to hug you.” Indian boxer-turned-actor Vijender Singh was among the first ones to comment on the post. The Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan actor commented, “Happy anniversary.”
Dharmendra and Hema Malini have appeared together in around 28 films. Their first meeting was on the set of “Tum Haseen Main Jawan” in 1970, where they fell in love.
Following their debut, they graced the screen together in numerous hits including “Naya Zamana,” “Raja Jani,” “Seeta Aur Geeta,” “Sholay,” “Charas,” “Jugnu,” “Azaad,” and “Dillagi,” among others.
Their final collaboration was in “Shimla Mirchi” in 2020, where Hema played the lead role and Dharmendra made a cameo appearance.
Dharmendra’s latest project, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon, was helmed by Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah. Meanwhile, Hema Malini is currently immersed in preparations for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections.
